Sunday School: Our Sunday School uses the Presbyterian Church (USA) Feasting on the Word Curriculum. Families like this because each week's lesson follows the Revised Common Lectionary, which is the calendar of scripture passages our pastor follows to plan worship. Children and adults are hearing and thinking about the same Bible stories each week, which provides great things to talk about on the way home! The curriculum also works well for our one-room-schoolhouse style classroom in which children of all ages learn together. A variety of teaching tools in each week's lesson plan promotes fun and meaningful learning opportunities for everyone.
Adult Bible Study: Our Bible Study group meets on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. in the lower level of our fellowship and education area. We have done studies on Old Testament figures, Jesus' Parables, the Gospel of Matthew, and studies geared to particular seasons of the church year. Led by the pastor, we combine learning with lots of open-ended questions, thoughtful conversation, and laughter.
Confirmation Class: Every few years, when a group of teens is ready to participate, we provide a 6-8 week confirmation class. Students learn about the Bible, the Presbyterian Book of Confessions and Book of Order, and the First Presbyterian Church of Stanhope, all while considering whether they're ready to affirm their faith and become adult members of the church.
